Socio-demographic status and 12 years trend of completed suicide in East Azerbaijan Province, Iran, during the period 2007–2018

Abstract Background The incidence rate of suicide has been increased in Iran over the past decades especially East Azerbaijan Province which there are limited studies on suicide. We aimed to investigate 12-year trend and demographic characteristics during period 2007–2018. obtained data mortality socio-demographic status from Death Registry Information System (DRIS) compared with legal medicine statistics study period. Results A total 2422 1783 cases were reported by DRIS (average 5.94 vs 4.4 per 100,000) 2007 2018, respectively. males was more than two times that females. mean median age 34.07 31 years, most common method hanging (51.9%). decreasing between 2014, however 2015 2018 increased. Conclusions this province increasing a smooth slope. Community-based programs measures should be taken stop growth
